JUNE 2018

English Calling Workshop for Contra Callers – intensive weekend for experienced contra callers to learn ECD calling (TX)

Klezmer Contra Dance – support for 7-piece Klezmer band to play for traditional contra dance (MI)

English Dance Workshop – advanced workshop to hone dance skills prior to evening ball/fundraiser (ON)

Susquehanna Folk Festival – new festival of traditional arts including music, dance, workshops, and more (PA)

Contra Callers' Workshop Series – sequence of four introductory workshops with opportunities to call at local dance (MA)

Positional English Country Dance series – new gender free series focusing on inclusive dancing with everyone in relaxed atmosphere (NY)

Contra Energizer Dance – contra dance prior to 67th National Square Dance Convention (MO)


FEBRUARY 2018

Montezuma County Community Contra Dance – new monthly series in diverse rural area (CO)

Dance Caller's Beginning Workshop – weekend training to provide ECD and contra callers with instruction and practice calling at local dance (CA)

East Van Oldtime Social – grassroots oldtime music festival in Vancouver including music and dance workshops and dancing for all ages (BC)

Scholarships for BACDS American Dance & Music Week – scholarship support for residential camp transitioning to experimental fee structure (CA)

Form the Ocean – contra dance weekend and creative retreat for women including dialogue, workshops, and skill-sharing sessions (MA) 


OCTOBER 2017

Ames-Des Moines Contra Dance series – dance groups in two Iowa towns collaborating to build attendance from colleges and local communities (IA)

Day of Dance – participatory educational event highlighting the history and influence of Shaker music, including Shaker and English Country Dance workshops (NY)

Oak Heights Community Folk Dance – contra evening for entire elementary school in Seattle to build community amongst families and staff (WA)

200 Years of Contras and Squares – three-month series presenting a variety of dance forms and styles from the past two centuries to the present (RI)

Contra Dance Musicians’ Workshop – training to explore rhythm and strengthen accompaniment skills, including follow-up mentorship sessions (MA)

World on a String Day - cross-cultural workshops to introduce young classical music students to the wide world of traditional music (DC) - see photo at left

Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp - adding contra dance to existing week-long music camp for families (OR)

Youth Traditional Song Weekend - youth-focused (not youth-exclusive) participatory singing event including leadership training (MA)

Fall Has Sprung - backing to help annual contra festival increase youth attendance by offering sliding scale to dancers 30 and under (CA)
