CDSS has published a newsletter continuously since 1967 and a journal off and on since 1940. In addition, we produce dance and music books, how-to booklets, CDs, and a growing elibrary of out-of-print books and research databases. Our institutional archives and library are housed at The University of New Hampshire (Durham).
The CDSS News is a quarterly print publication for members and, in a slightly shorter format, an online publication for everyone. Interested in submitting something for publication or advertising? See our Submissions Guidelines.
The E-News is periodic updates of announcements, deadlines and late-breaking news. You can browse through past issues and join the mailing list.
News Article Archives
Our news archives section includes selections from past years' issues of the CDSS News. You can search by category or keyword or both.
CD+S Online (journal)
CDSS has published several journals since 1940. The current version, CD+S, is online only. PDF scans of earlier editions are in our journal archives: The Country Dancer (1940-1965), and Country Dance and Song (1968-1996).
CDSS publishes a variety of books, booklets, CDs and CD-ROMs. Our publications program is guided by the CDSS mission to support the resilience and good health of traditional music, dance and song participatory arts communities. We welcome suggestions and inquiries. Please contact Ben Williams, Director of the CDSS Education Department.
We are pleased to provide these publications, most now out of print, here on the web. We ask only that you respect the authors’ intention and generosity in making these materials available free of charge (although donations to our programs are always welcome!). We also welcome new suggestions for additional material you would find useful.
