Run away from the subscriber, in Albemarle, a mulatto man
named Gabriel, about 52 or 53 years of age, and was formerly
the property of Mrs. Thornton, who lived in York county, at
the mouth of Queen's Creek. He has a free woman for his
wife, who goes by the name of Betty Baines, and lives in
Gloucester county. It is likely he may be lurking about
that place, or on the Eastern Shore, as he formerly lived
there, and is well acquainted in all the lower parts. He
plays exceedingly well on the violin. Whoever takes up the
said slave, and secures him, so that I may get him again, or
delivers him to Rowland Joiner, of James City, shall receive
five pounds reward. [signed] John Hudson.
