London. . . September 7. . . On Saturday evening the news
came to Carshalton of Capt. Scawen being safe arrived from
fighting the duel with Mr. Fitzgerald.  The bells were
immediately rung upon the occasion, a bonfire made of 300
bavins, and the whole village seemed to express great joy.
