Alexander knew not what it was even to amuse in trifles; his
hours were dedicated to wise and manly exercises, except his
love of music, in which it is said he excelled.  But he soon
discarded the instrument of harmony on a reproof from his
tutor, that Princes should not divert their time with
performances suited only to their slaves for their
amusement. . .
