Two hundred dollars reward. To any person that will deliver
to me in the lower end of Buckingham county, a middle sized
Virginia born Negro fellow, who has been run away ten years,
his name is Essex, alias Sussex. I am informed that he has
passed for a freeman and has taken the surname of Scott, and
goes sometimes by water; I was told he was at Smithfield
last summer at the house of Mr. Hanford. He is very
straight, talks thick, has had a bad breaking out under one
of his jaws, the scars very visible when he went away. He
is about twenty nine years old, has thick lips, a stern
countenance, and was very fond of playing on the fiddle
before he left me. [signed] Anthony Winston.
