Tuesday a musick meeting was held at Corsham church, at
which about three hundred of the nobility and gentry of Bath
and Bristol were present. On their return home at night,
about a mile from Bath, few of them escaped being robbed by
two highwaymen. They took from one gentleman twenty
guineas, and a gold watch. They likewise robbed the Bath
and Bristol diligence, and every post coach and carriage
that passed them. It is supposed they made booty of upwards
four hundred pounds.
