James City county, November 1, 1775.  Run away from
Drummond's Neck, the 27th of last month, a young Negro man
named Harry, who can read and write, . . . I purchased him
of Mr. James Donald, who brought him from Scotland, where he
had been many years. He has had the smallpox, can speak
Scotch, and sings Scotch Songs. . .
