London, October 29. Thursday night a very singular
interment was performed at the parish house of St. John's,
Horseytown. An old waterman, aged 72, had ordered his
funeral, which passed as follows:
The parish children singing hymns. The BODY. The pall
supported by six watermen in coats and badges. Chief
mourner. A porter carrying a pair of sculls painted black;
a know half black half white; and six brushes used for
painting the bottoms of boats. . . [Other mourners and
processions.]
