London, October 20. The following authentick intelligence
is a striking instance of the decay of our manufactories.
Mess. Mauduit and Wright, for many years successively, have
bought in Wivelscomb, Somerset, between February and the end
of June, 3000 pieces of the manufactory of that place, which
were sent to North America, but this season their number has
not exceeded 200. When Mr. Mauduit and his partner visited
the town, which was almost annually, the bells rang, and
there was a grand festival; but now the scene is sadly
changed.
