A remarkable passage from Cicero's treatise De Legibus,
concerning Musick.
The good and evils in a state depends greatly on the musick
that is most encouraged in it. If it be light and wanton,
the people are insensibly rendered foolish and disorderly;
if, on the contrary, it be grave and masculine, they become
modest by its influence.
