London. . . Last night there was a grand masquerade at the
Haymarket, which did not break up till between six and seven
o'clock this morning. The poor are starving; the country
presents a prospect of famine; tradesmen are breaking, owing
to the long credit they give; and the quality are spending
their fortunes upon milliners, whores, and masquerades.
