The parish clerk of a town in Shropshire, whose wife lately
died on a Saturday, happened the next day to set the first
staves of the psalm beginning This is a joyful day indeed!
which caused such a laughter in the congregation that it put
the poor man out of countenance, who made an apology for his
mistake, by saying, "Indeed my wife was a very good woman,
and I wish she was alive again."
