William Gorden of the academy, Glasgow, author of The
Universal Accountant and Complete Merchant, for the
accommodation of youth from the West Indies, and North
America, in the most airy and agreeable part of this city,
hath purchased a house, where he is to keep a boarding
school, into which he proposes to receive youth from the age
of six to ten, to be instructed in writing, drawing, and
dancing, the English, Latin, and French languages,
geography, history, mythology, and chronology, at the rate
of 40L. per annum . . .
