At Newtown, in Princess Anne County, on Thursday the 26th of
June, the principal gentlemen, . . . celebrated their joy on
the happy repeal of the Stamp Act, by repairing to the
Rising Sun Tavern, where an elegant entertainment was
provided. . . [10 lines, toasts] The evening concluded with
an elegant ball, at which was present a numerous company of
ladies and gentlemen, who made a genteel appearance; and in
every face appeared demonstrations of loyalty, and joy, on
the happy occasion.
