Rome, . . . January 6. As the Carnival is very short this
year, the Pope had given permission for the theatres to be
opened on the 2d of this month; but the death of the
Pretender has occasioned his Holiness to defer the
representation of all publick shows and diversions until the
week after the funeral of that Prince, whose corpse is to be
interred with great pomp in the cathedral of St. Peter. . .

was performed by the musicians from the Apostolick palace. .
