Run away from the subscriber in Hanover, about the middle of
December last, a likely Negro man named Damon, about 5 feet
9 or 10 inches high, has a scar on his forehead and cheek,
is a brisk lively fellow, speaks good English, was born in
the West Indies, beats the drum tolerable well, which he is
very fond of, and loves liquor; had on when he went away
Negro cotton clothes, and an old hat bound round with linen.
I expect he will get on board some vessel, as I understand
he was seen in Yorktown. Whoever takes up the said Negro,
and contrives him to me, shall have 3 L. reward. [signed]
Sarah Gist.
N.B. The said Negro was formerly a sailor, has a
smattering of the French language, and is outlawed.
