Ran away from the subscriber, on the 9th of this instant, a
small short dark-skin'd Mulatto slave, about 43 years of
age, endeavours to pass for a freeman, his cloathing was a
cinnamon colour'd coat, much worn, an old cotton wastecoat,
white linen long breeches, yarn stocking, English shoes, a
half-worn wide-brimm'd hat, and a Virginia linen shirt: He
can play on the violin, and pretends to understand making of
tobacco very well. Whoever will apprehend and secure him,
so that I may have him again, shall have a pistole reward,
besides what the law allows, paid by [signed] James Cocke.
