Paris A-la-Main, March 29. Yesterday the opening of the
Jubilee was published just after the Mass, and before the
sermon in all the churches throughout the city.
And this morning it was made still more publick by the
ringing of all our bells. . . [12 lines]
There will be an oratorio indeed, or a divine concert,
twice or thrice every week, at the castle belonging to the
Thuilleries, but no amusements of any King any where else.
On Friday last the opera house was shut up, and the next
day the French and Italian actors shut up theirs.
As Saturday night was the last of their performance, the
pit was so excessively crowded, that it created a kind of
tumult or disorder, during which, tho' there were swords
drawn, and one person was wounded in his leg or thigh, yet
the riot was happily appeased without any farther ill
consequence of any moment.
