Run away from my plantation in Dinwiddie county, about the
20th of June last, a likely Negro man named Tom, about 25
years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, of a light complexion,
thick lips, a little bow-legged, and has a large scar on the
right side of his head, with one of his lower fore teeth
out, by trade a blacksmith, is very sensible, and fond of
whistling, which he performs in a peculiar manner with his
tongue. Whoever will deliver the same slave to me at
Battersea near Petersburg, shall receive a reward of one
hundred dollars, or more in proportion to their trouble.
[signed] John Banister.
