Philadelphia, November 8. . . [14 lines] Thursday last the
council and General Assembly of this commonwealth, proceeded
to the choice of president and vice- president of the
Supreme Executive Council, when his Excellency John
Dickinson, Esq; and the Hon. James Ewing, Esq; were
unanimously re-elected to those important and elevated
stations, for the ensuing year. The day was observed with
the usual formalities and rejoicings, viz. the display of
the state flag on Market-street wharf, the firing the United
States salute by a company of the militia train of
artillery, an elegant entertainment, the ringing of bells,
&c. &c. This happy event has given general satisfaction
among all ranks of people, more especially as it ensures to
them the blessings of a mild and gentle administration. [9
