Amsterdam, May 14. Last Monday evening a fire broke out in
the Play-House, situated at the Keyzers-Gragt, which
occasioned a terrible conflagration, the consequences cannot
be sufficiently lamented. The Flemish actors were performing
an opera, when between the hours of eight and nine, the fire
was perceived to reach the stage. Endeavours were
immediately used to extinguish it, but to no purpose. In two
minutes the stage was all in a blaze, and the chandeliers
falling down, caused an inexpressible disorder among the
spectators, every one flying to save his life.
