We hear that upon the arrival of a certain great personage
at the west end of the town, many persons of great note were
immediately struck dumb, and have not been heard to speak
since, while others, who till then, laboured under the same
misfortune, were as suddenly restored to the use of speech,
to the great joy of all their friends, and the terror and
amazement of their enemies, many of who were passionately
fond of court minuets and prerogative music, have changed
their notes, and are now extravagantly in love with country
dances. some who, (like the Frog in the fable) had swell'd
themselves into beings of great importance, instantly slunk
into their primitive nothingness, while, not a few, having
bursted with envy and despair into equal insignificance. Do
not all these astonishing events prove, that miracles are
not yet ceased.
