Newport, (in Rhode-Island) June 2. . . [elaborate
celebration on news of repeal of Stamp-act.]  The populace
were so impatient that, before one o'clock in the morning,
all the bells in the town were set a ringing, drums were
beat, music played, and guns were discharged. . . [2/3
column, paintings displayed at Court-house, procession,
toasts.]
  At every toast the trumpet sounded an air, and five cannon
were discharged. . . [fireworks, illuminations]
