London, June 5. The Court was yesterday the most splendid
of any since the commencement of the present reign, if we
except only the first after the accession of his Majesty.
. . . [6 lines on valuables worn]
The ball was opened by his Royal Highness the Duke of
Gloucester and the Duchess of Grafton; and he danced
afterwards with the Duchess of Portland. The minuets lasted
from nine to near twelve o'clock. Only two country dances
were called, in the second of which their Majesties retired,
and the ball ended soon thereafter.
