London, January 17.  After the arrival of the French
Ambassador, upwards of thirty drummers attended at his house
to congratulate him on his return to England, when one of
his domestics brought them thirty guineas, but observed,
that it was a scandal for men who are in the pay of the King
of England to beg on such occasions.
