London, May 31. Wednesday evening Mr. Shuter spoke an
epilogue riding on an ass at Covent-Garden house; but it
being somewhat difficult to get the sluggish animal forward
on the stage, the house seemed much diverted with Mr.
Shuter's ridiculous situation; that excellent humourist,
however, soon changed the laugh at him, to one with him, by
declaring the ass was greatly disconcerted, it being his
first appearance on the stage. This happy get-off was
received with the approbation it merited, and he went
through the epilogue to the universal satisfaction of the
audience.
