Extract of . . . letter from Fort Prince George, Aug. 12.
. . . [5 paragraphs on battles with and capitulation to the
Indians at Fort Prince George] In the action near Etchawee,
after the drums fell into the Indians hands, a white man
took up one of them, who with an Indian came in sight of the
army beating the Grenadiers March, and called on them to
come on: this was said to be McLamore (frequently miscalled
McNamar) but he says it was one Hawkins.
