London, May 16. We learn from Cartegena, that the whole
city was surprized there lately by a singular accident. The
French admiral, M. de la Clue, having given orders to all
the ships in his squadron to give a general salvo upon holy
Saturday, when, by the ringing of the bells, they knew that
the hymn Gloria in Excelsis was sung at mass, the bullets
not being drawn in the Redoubtable, she fired a broadside on
the Souverain and Centaur, by which many were killed and
wounded, and both the ships were disabled.
