Extract from a Pamphlet intitled, The Whole Duty of a Woman.
Sect. XVI, Elegance.
As the diamond is an ornament to beauty, so is elegance, to
the behaviour of a woman.
. . . [1 paragraph on modesty]
As the crow or the raven, which devour carrion on the hills
of the north, differ from the singing bird of the Canaries,
so differeth the elegant woman from her who is wanting
therein.
