To be run for on the second Monday in November next, if a
fair day, and if not the first fair day after, at the house
of Mr. Isaac Peronneau in Goose-creek, a three pint silver
tankard and a silver punch bowl, value two hundred and fifty
pounds, by any nine mares, horses, or geldings, to run a
quarter of a mile and catch riders. Three horses to run
together, and the foremost, to be put aside till the others
run; and afterwards the three best to run, and the foremost
horse to win the prize. All persons inclinable to run for
the same, are desired to give in their names, with the name
and colour of their horses, by the 20th instant, as there
will be no horses taken in after that day.
N.B. The same night will be a guinea, to be whistled for,
by any five persons who will undertake to whistle three
tunes that shall be proposed them, and the person that
whistles them the best, clearest, and without laughing, wins
the money.
