A letter from Aleppo, dated July 2. According to the last
advices from Persia the Schah Nader detached 20, 000 men to
reduce a rebel whose name was Tahi Khan, who had been sub-
governor of the province of Schiras . . . [30 lines, details
of cruelties. Khan had suspected and ordered a tomb.] He
has appointed twelve mollas, or Priests, who are to be
relieved by each other thrice in 24 hours, so that four are
always to be on duty, who are to hold lamps fill'd with
perfum'd oil in their hands, while they sing hymns, full of
his praises.
