Mentzel, having information of a grand convoy of oxen going to Marshal Noailles's army, under an escort of 2000 men, they resolved to attack it, and having with them a compleat set of trumpets for their whole corps, they sounded them as they approached, on which the French, supposing them to be a great body of horse, retired precipitately, and abandoned 300 fat oxen. |
