On Saturday, being his Majesty's birth day, the Charles-
Town Regiment and the first and second troops of Horse-
Guards, were reviewed by his Honour the Lieutenant Governor;
and his Majesty's health, and that of the Royal family was
drank under the discharge of the cannon at Broughton's
battery, which was followed by the discharge of the cannon
also at Fort Johnson. After which his honour entertained,
in a very elegant manner, all his Majesty's officers, civil
and military, with a great many other gentlemen of
distinction; the number of which was the more considerable,
as all the officers of Colonel Duvoure's Corps from Jamaica
were present. In the evening there was a handsome ball for
a very numerous assembly of gentlemen and ladies, and a very
genteel entertainment. The whole day was full of
testimonies of joy and satisfaction, and a decent regard was
shewn to the approach of the next day, by the Belle
Assemblee.
