By private letters from Philadelphia . . . we learn that a
body of near 300 men in arms, in a warlike manner entred the
county of Lancaster in that province, and on Sunday the 5th
of September last, with beat of drum and sound of trumpet,
advanced to a plantation on the west side of Susquahannah,
with intent, as 'tis said, to oust by force several of the
inhabitants of that country. . .
