Charlestown, May 2d, 1774. Mr. Pike returns his most
grateful thanks to the parents and guardians of the young
ladies and gentlemen of this province whom he has had under
his tuition these ten years past, and at the same time
acquaints them and all others that he is under the
disagreeable necessity of leaving the province some time
next month, having for many years had a sick family, and for
the recovery of his health greatly impaired by a long and
close attendance upon his pupils.
