London, November 12. The ball at Guildhall on Friday night
was opened about nine o'clock by the Marquis of Rockingham
and the late Lady Mayoress. The dancing continued till
about two, when a great number of young fellows, heated by
liquor, got upon the hustings, and because they were not
supplied with what wine they demanded, broke all the plates,
bottles, &c. within their reach. [9 lines tell more about
this scene, with fighting, etc.] This scene of noise and
confusion lasted til half past six o'clock, when the
rioters, finding they could get no more wine and having done
all the mischief they could, left the hall.
