Petersburgh, Russia, May 8.  The brigadier Chederas, having
been commanded to seize the fortress at Taganrock on the
mouth of the Don and the Sea of Azoph, quitted the fort of
St. Demetrius the 11th of April last, and marched with a
body of troops, some engineers and cannoneers, and on the
13th took the fortress, which he commands at present. 
Immediately after which he caused Te Deum to be sung on
account of the success of the expedition, and ordered the
Russian colors and the arms of the Empress to be planted on
the principal rampart towards the sea.
