As soon as it was certainly known that the repeal of the Stamp-act was resolved upon in the English parliament, the merchants concerned in the American trade, assembled at the Exchange Coffee-House, where an elegant entertainment was provided at their expence, at which were present most of the neighbouring gentry. In the evening there was a ball for the ladies. |
