Paris, Jan. 5, 1778. . . [13 lines]  By a stroke of the
underhanded policy, Government takes methods the most
conducive to exasperate us.  They encourage all that is
capable of spiriting up their subjects against the English. 
The most indecent ballads, the most gross and sarcastic
epigrams, the most hardy maxims concerning civil liberty,
all is acceptable and approved, it evidently pointed at us. 
The periodical writers have received private orders to be
very severe, and envenom whatever they write about our
country.  They lately gave a very striking instance of their
partiality, in laying before the public  the unfortunate
affair of Burgoyne. . . [52 lines]
