At St. Augustine, on the 9th of November at six o'clock in
the evening, was a very elegant ball opened, which was made
by Col. Fuser to entertain the ladies and gentlemen and in
honor of the signal victory obtained by His Majesty's troops
over the united forces of the French and Rebels at Savannah.
. . [6 lines enumerating the managers of the ball]
The agreeable amusement commenced with a few country
dances, after which his Excellency Governor Tonyn and Mrs.
Holmes moved a minuet and performed it with a very handsome
air and grace; next succeeded Lieutenant Governor Moultrie
and Mrs. Catherwood, &c. . . [14 lines describing the
decorations in the ball room] The ball continued with much
harmony and happiness until about three o'clock next
morning, at which time the band of musick was dismissed, and
the cheerful exercise ended.
