Savannah, December 9. Last Saturday [ ] night the
gentlemen of the Jockey Club gave a ball and supper to the
ladies of this province and garrison. A great number
honoured them with their company, as well as the Governor,
Lieutenant Governor, Major Generals Previst and Leftie, and
many officers of rank in the navy and army. The rooms were
neat and elegantly fitted. The supper and desert, which
consisted of upwards of one hundred covers, were chosen and
served with taste, the wines were good and plentiful, and
the whole was conducted with a spirit that did honour to the
Sons of the Turf.
