From the Caledonian Mercury.  The beating orders for the new
regiments of Fencible men are now come down from the War-
Office.  As many people wish to know the terms on which
these regiments are to be raised, we shall lay before the
public the following letter.  All the new regiments are to
be raised upon the same terms. 
. . . [letters on recruiting follow]  The regiment shall
consist of eight battalion companies, one company of
grenadiers, and one of light infantry.  The battalion
companies to consist of one Captain, three Lieutenants, one
Ensign, five Serjeants, five Corporals, two Drummers, and
one hundred Private men each.  The Grenadier company, of one
Captain, three Lieutenants, five Serjeants, five Corporals,
two Drummers, two Fifers, and one hundred Private men.  The
light infantry company, of one Captain, three Lieutenants,
five Serjeants, five Corporals, two Drummers, and one
hundred Private men, with the usual staff officers. . . 
  The beating order to authorize this levy being made out in
the usual form, allows the recruiting to be carried on in
any part of Great-Britain; . . .
