Annapolis, (Maryland) May 1. Official accounts, being
received by his excellency the Governor, of a general
cessation of hostilities, last Thursday was appointed as a
day of public rejoicings. [1 paragraph]
At night in the state house, a superb building, was
beautifully and magnificently illuminated; and an elegant
entertainment was given to the ladies at the ball room,
which concluded the evening. The city never shone before
with such a numerous and brilliant appearance of ladies.
