Vienna, March 13.  Dr. Messner, who has been long celebrated
for the astonishing cures he has performed with the
loadstone, has lately rendered himself particularly famous,
by restoring sight to a young lady, who became blind at the
age of three years, by the small pox, and was allowed a
pension by his imperial and royal majesty, in consideration
of her misfortune and extraordinary talents, which were
particularly conspicuous in the great knowledge she had
acquired in musick, of which she was perfect mistress. . . .
She is much surprized at the forms of many things, which she
only was acquainted with by touch, particularly that of her
harpsichord, upon which she cannot play but with her eyes
covered. . . .
