Five pounds reward. Run away last Sunday, the 21st inst.
from the subscriber, a servant man, named James Welch, by
trade a shoemaker, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, a well
set fellow: Had on when he went away . . . [5 lines] his
dress will suit the army well, but as I have two lads now in
the Continental Army, its hoped he will not be harboured.
Its supposed he went off with some of the Maryland troops
for the Jerseys. Whoever apprehends and secures said
servant so as his master may have him again, shall have the
above reward, with reasonable charges, paid by [signed]
William Ross.
N.B. Its supposed he can play on the violin. Much given to
low company, strong drink, lying and swearing.
