[London] On the Lord Mayor and Mr. Oliver being brought to
the tower gate, by the proper officer of that fortress, they
were received with the greatest acclamations. Twenty-one
pieces of cannon were fired by the artillery company on
Tower Hill, when the procession began, which was about half
an hour past three, nearly as follows: the artillery
company, with music playing, drums beating, and colours
flying . . .
The bells upon this occasion rang throughout London, and a
general joy prevailed; every testimony that could be given
of universal approbation of the noble and spirited conduct
of the two magistrates was forcibly expressed. . . .
