Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Albany, dated the
6th instant.  Last week an express arrived here from Fort
William Henry, at Lake George, and Fort Edward, informing
us, that the people in garrison there, intended to go to
their respective habitations, by the first day of May, the
time for which they were inlisted, being then expired.  A
detachment of 200 of our militia, and 100 regulars, were
immediately sent to relieve them; but as several of the New-
Englandmen are since gone up, we expect our men will soon
return.  Those of our people that did not go, threw money on
the drum head for those that went . . .
