Port Louis, October 4. The English fleet came the 1st of
this month to anchor at a little distance from this place,
after having cruized for three or four days along the
coasts. . . . The enemies are advanced within half a league
of this place; and to day have sent a trumpet to the
commandant to surrender, but his answer was, that he
determined to give them a warm reception if they came there.
