Dresden, December 19. This city being surrounded on every
side by the Prussians, upon the retreat of Prince Charles
into Bohemia with his own army and all the troops that were
left after the Battle of Wilsdorff. . . . Yesterday the King
of Prussia entered the city on horseback . . . went to the
royal palace to see the two Princes and the two Princesses
that were left there . . . embraced them with a great deal
of tenderness, assuring them that they might make themselves
easy . . . The King intends to give a ball to the ladies to-
morrow, and then go back to his army, which lies at a small
distance from the city. . . .
